Laminate verses Wood Furniture

Posted by Jack Roberts

I am an interior designer and our architectural firm
designs office space for medium size companies. We have evaluated wood desks
verses laminate desks and we are recommending to our clients that they seriously
consider laminate desks due to the improvements in the desk quality over the
past years. The desks that we have been specifying have been through Global,
which offer many designs and price levels. The quality is consistent throughout
their desk lines. I use Global’s Correlation and Adaptabilities as well as the
Traditional Presidential desk series. Check them out on this site:

We have used the Global desk line and we feel the best Global lines are the Global Correlation and Adaptabilities. The reason we like these desk series are that they have an abundence of desk components, allowing us to design a built-in look as well as being able to design the office or conference room with the desk components we need, not what is available. Global will also do custom sizes which is very helpful.

Be careful where you buy your office furniture. We thought that were getting a good deal on desks and office chairs from a big box that I will not name. The chairs were leather and the desks were laminate. The chairs fell apart in 8 months. It was a problem with the chair's seat lift and the padding on the chair's seat went dead. The office desks were OK at first, but the material they call wood grain laminate started to peel apart and a few drawers broke - oh well.

Laminate desks from big box stores are not the best -cheap though. The laminate desks will last around a year from our use - but creates more work than purchasing a better desk would cost.
